Challenges and Practices of School-Based Management in Public Elementary School Heads in the Division of Palawan

Abstract:

This study dealt with the Challenges and Practices of School Based-Management in Public Elementary School Heads in the Division of Palawan. Results show that School heads and teachers mostly experienced accountability and continuous learning challenges. School Heads and Teachers have a high level of management practices in leadership and governance. School Based- Management orientation program and seminar and workshop about school Based-Management implementation is mostly practiced in reinforcement program for school based-management. Involvement of teachers in preparation, monitoring, and evaluation is mostly practiced by the School Heads in the SBM reinforcement program Stakeholder engagement and benchmarking to other schools is mostly the best practiced as perceived by the School Heads. Transparency and good governance are mostly the best practices as perceived by the teachers. School heads face various challenges in leadership and governance, curriculum and learning, accountability and continuous learning, and management of resources. These challenges are important factors that need to be addressed for effective school management and improvement.
