Abstract:
Pinipilahan, dinadagsa, at pinapangarap ng bawat manggagawang
Pilipino ang ginhawang hatid ng Europa. Ang mataas na halaga ng Euro
sa pandaigdigang palitan, kakaibang benepisyo, at ganda marahil ng
lugar – ang ilang salik kung bakit hinihila tayong magtrabaho sa nasabing
kontinente. Hindi malaon, naging bukambibig na ang ginhawang hatid
ng Europa. Pagbubuo na kaya ito sa ating kamalayan ng penomenong
European Dream? Kitang-kita naman sa kung papaano tinangkilik ng mga
Pilipino ang Europa sa mga pinilahang pelikula na tumuon dito. Kaugnay
nito, bukod tangi ang pelikula na nasa direksiyon ni Olivia Lamasan, lalo
na ang Milan (2004) at Barcelona (2016) na nagtanghal at sumentro sa
Italya at España – mga malalaking konsentrasyon ng Pilipino sa Europa.
Mababakas sa bawat karakter, dayalog, at paggalaw ang tipikal na imahe
ng lipunang Pilipinong nangangarap, nakikibaka, at nagbibigay ng ginhawa
– sa Europa bilang lupain ng pangarap.
