MY GUY sa Malakanyang: Ang mga Internal at Eksternal na Problema at Hamong Tinugunan at Kinaharap ng Administrasyon ni Pangulong Ramon Magsaysay

Abstract:
Isa sa mga pinka-popular na personalidad sa larangan ng pulitika sa loob at labas ng bansa si dating pangulong Ramon del Fierro Magsaysay Sr. o mas kilala bilang My Guy. Nakilala siya dahil sa kanyang malikhaing campaign jingle na mambo Magsaysay noong 1953.Itinuturing bilang maka-masang pangulo dahil sa kanyang pagiging mapagkumbaba sa kabila ng kanyang posisyon sa pamahalaan. Isinilang at lumaki sa isang payak na pamumuhay sa munisipalidad ng Iba sa Zambales. Mula sa pagiging isang working student ay naitaguyod niya ang kanyang pamilya at sarili sa pamamagitan din nito ay nabigyan niya ng edukasyon ang sarili. Nagsilbi bilang isang sundalo noong Ikalawang Digmaang Pandaigdig sa 31st Infantry Division na Hukbong Katihan ng Pilipinas. Naging POW at nakatakas sa mga hapon at muling humarap sa mga labanan bilang isang gerilya na nagpasinaya sa kanyang military career nang pamunuan niya ang aabot sa 10,000 mga Pilipinong gerilya sa mga matagumpay na pagsalakay sa mga dalampasigan ng Zambales sa mga hapon noong 1944. Tumakbo siya sa pagkakongresista sa Zambales at nanalo sa ilalim ng Liberal Party noong 1948. Pumasok si Magsaysay sa pulitika sa panahong kinikilala ito ng marami bilang nasa marumi at malalang estado- bilang isang rising star sa pulitika lumikha ng ingay si Magsaysay dahil sa kanyang angking kagalingan at karisma. Siya ang kumatawan sa mga serye ng diplomatikong misyon sa Estados Unidos. Itinuturing na napakahalaga ang papel ni Magsaysay bilang Kalihim ng Kagawaran ng Tanggulang Pambansa ng Pilipinas taong 1954 sa pagharap sa mga Hukbalahap na nagsasagwa ng mga pag-aaklas at kaguluhan sa kanayunan gayundin sa mga lawless element sa bansa. Nakatuon ang papel na ito sa mga panloob at panlabas na mga hamon na hinarap ng administrasyong Magsaysay at sa kung paano ito tinugunan, Ilalahad din sa papel na ito ang kinahinatnan at nagging pangmatagalang epekto nito sa Pilipinas.
