Abstract:

This study examined the effectiveness of the Multiple Intelligence strategies in the improvement of reading comprehension skills of the learners. It investigated the specific intelligences respondents exhibited and then tested the reading comprehension proficiency level of the learners before and after intervention. This study used the descriptive design using pretest-posttest data gathering procedure. The respondents were 293 Grade 9 Junior High School students in the School Year 2016-2017. Findings reveal that most of the respondents exhibited musical, bodily kinesthetic and verbal linguistic intelligences. After the intervention, most of the reading skills improved from frustration level to independent. There is also significant difference between the reading comprehension skills level before and after the intervention. Therefore, careful planning and determining the weaknesses of the learners will help the learners’ reading level proficiency. The use of MI strategies contributed to the learners’ improvement.
