Abstract:

Health problems are increasing as a result of industrialization, climate change, and technological advancement, which have led to a decrease in the physical activity of an individual. This study aims to address the issues regarding limited access to basic health care because of public health facilities in rural areas, lack of medical staff, and inferior supplies in the Philippines when it comes to monitoring the vital sign of a patient. The incremental development methodology is used in this study to create an application and receiving feedback from users. The researchers design a device that could help healthcare institutions when it comes to acquiring the body temperature, heart rate, and oxygen saturation in just one minute. Also, it can count the number of steps, the hours of sleep, and can track the current location of the user wearing the device. Those data are stored in a database and can be viewed in an Android application developed by the researchers. The major finding of this study is, it reduces the time in measuring different parameters of a person with an accurate reading. For that reason, the researchers conclude that this design project provides an easy way to measure and monitor one’s health.
