Discipline: Computer Engineering
Abstract:
This study focused on the facto rs
affecting the students learning in g rade 9 science
subject such the understa nding of learning objectives
and outcom es, involvem ent to intera ctive lea rning,
m onitoring of learning p rogress and application of
learning com petencies. This stud y also addressed the
problem s encountered b y the teachers in the delivery
of learning objectives and outcom es, prom oting
interactive lea rning approach, evaluation of lea rning
throughout the course a nd utilization of lea rning
m aterials a nd deliverables. The m ain purpose o f this
study is develop an Intera ctive Com puter Aided
Instruction Software for Grade 9 Science subject to
help teachers establish learning and to increa se the
students’ involvem ent with the subject itself. The
descriptive research m ethod was em ployed to gather
all necessa ry inform ation need ed in the developm ent
of the system . It includes survey questionnaires that
are ba sed on ISO softwa re quality chara cteristic to
evaluate the system s’ functionality and effectiveness.
The system was evaluated by 25 tea chers, 70 stud ents
and 5 web -developm ent experts. The summ ary of
findings revealed that the problem s encountered by
teachers with rega rds to the delivery of the delivery of
learning objects and outcom es, prom oting intera ctive
learning approa ch, evaluating learning throughout
the course and utilizatio n of learning m aterials a nd
objects a ffects stud ents learning in term s of
understanding the learning objectives and outcomes,
involvem ent to interactive learning, m onitoring of
learning prog ress a nd applying learning
com petencies. This concludes the needs of the addition
of interactive learning elem ents such as anim ated
video s and sim ulated activities to help the stud ents
im prove their learning and be m ore engaged into the
subject. This also entails the availability of utilized
lecture m aterials and relevant a ctivities to evalua te
their learning as well as help them in their self -pa ced
learning.
