THE CORRELATION BETWEEN DIGITAL LITERACY AND READING PROFICIENCY OF ENGLISH TEACHERS IN PULO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Abstract:
Technology is continually growing and has
become an integral part of our educational system.
This advancement made information more accessible
and efficient, necessitating the mastery of 21st century
abilities to deal with technological advancements. The
study employed a Descriptive-Correlational research
design to investigate relationship among two or more
variables. This research is centered in determining the
correlation between digital literacy and reading
proficiency of English Teachers in Pulo Elementary
School. The target population are limited to 33 English
Teachers at Pulo Elementary School. The main data
gathering instrument was a self- made questioners,
which are digital literacy test that has 20 questions and
reading proficiency test that has 15 questions. The
findings in digital literacy of English teachers in Pulo
Elementary often understand digital practices in
teaching; often find digital information in teaching;
often use digital information in teaching; and often
create digital information in teaching. The findings in
reading proficiency of English Teachers often use
vocabulary in reading proficiency; often monitor
comprehension in reading proficiency; and often
identify fact and opinion in reading proficiency.
Understanding digital practices, the ways in finding
information, and the ways of creating digital
information of English Teachers in Pulo Elementary
have no relation in their usage of comprehension in
reading proficiency; and the usage of digital
information of English Teachers in Pulo Elementary
have relation in their reading proficiency.
