Adyenda ng Paggawa (Labor Agenda) sa Pagtatatag ng Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN): Kontekstwalisasyon ng Ilang Pahina ng “Kapakipakinabang na Kasaysayan” Tungo sa Mga Adbokasing Maka-Manggagawa sa Siglo 21

Abstract:

Sa mga tradisyonal na aklat sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas – lalo na yaong mga komersyal na teksbuk – karaniwang halos walang pagbanggit sa mga manggagawa at sa mga kilusang paggawa (labor movements), gayundin sa agenda ng paggawa (labor agenda) bilang mahalagang pananda sa bawat “panahon.” Bunsod nito, hindi kataka-taka na nauuwi sa estado-sentrikong talakay ang mga araling pangkasaysayan sa maraming paaralan, at nagiging talababa o footnote na lamang (kung may espasyo pa nga) ang manggagawa sa nakasulat na kasaysayan. Bilang pagsalungat sa gayong kalakaran, ang papel na ito ay panimulang pagsisikhay na ilarawan, isakonteksto, at isapopularisa ang adyenda ng paggawa (Labor Agenda) sa pamamagitan ng pagsipat sa kaugnay na dokumentong mula sa mga dokumento ng pagtatatag ng Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN). Sa pangkalahatan, ginagabayan ng lente ng kasaysayang-bayan (people’s history) ang papel na ito. Samakatwid, ang mga dokumentong mula sa mga kilusang panlipunan na pawang nakaugat sa “mga tinig mula sa ibaba” ay itinuturing na bahagi ng tinatawag na “kapaki-pakinabang na kasaysayan” (“usable past” o kasaysayang nakatutulong sa pag-unawa ng kasalukuyan). Ang papel na ito ay naglalayong sagutin ang mga sumusunod na ispesipikong katanungan: 1) Paano itinampok sa mga dokumento ng pagtatag sa BAYAN ang adyenda ng paggawa; 2) Paano nagbago o nanatiling gayon pa rin ang adyenda ng paggawa mula noon hanggang ngayon; 3) Bakit makabuluhan pa rin sa kasalukuyan ang adyenda ng paggawa na itinampok sa mga piling dokumentong historikal mula sa mga kilusang panlipunang nabanggit, at paano maitataguyod ang mga ito sa Siglo 21?
