The Effects of Anxiety and Depression on Academic Performance Among 3rd Year Bachelor Science in Respiratory Therapy of Universidad De Zamboanga

Abstract:

The study focused on determining the level of anxiety and depression of the respondents. This study is focused mainly in adjudicating the level of anxiety and depression of 3rd year Respiratory students of Universidad de Zamboanga, Zamboanga City. This study answered the following questions; (1) what is the level of anxiety and depression of the respondents? Weighted mean and weighted frequency were used to determine the level of depression and anxiety of the respondents. The data shows that the Level of anxiety of the respondents is high with a grand mean of 2.40 whereas the level of depression is average with a grand mean of 3.10. (2) Is there a significant difference in the level of anxiety of the respondents? The results show that there is no significant difference in the level of anxiety of the respondents apropos of age with a p value of 0.843 and section with a p value of 0.455. Considering that all p values are greater than 0.05, therefore the null hypothesis is valid and will not be rejected. (3) Is there a significant difference in the level of depression of the respondents? The results show that there is no significant difference in the level of depression of the respondents apropos of age with an f value of 0.608 and section with a p value of 0.900. Considering that all p values are greater than 0.05, therefore the null hypothesis is valid and will not be rejected.
