Abstract:
Anchored on the Ecological Systems Theory by Urie Bronfenbrenner, this
study determined the Sustaining Support of the Care Providers for Persons
with Disability (PWD) of the Suporta sa mga Batang may Kapansanan, Inc.
(SBKI) in Cadlan, Pili, Camarines Sur for 2018. It sought to answer the
following questions: 1.) What are the tasks being done by care providers in a
Home Program? 2.) What is the level of competency of the care providers in
performing the tasks? 3.) What are the appropriate assistive devices used for
Home Program? 4.) What is the care providers’ perception of the awareness of
their community towards their PWD child? The respondents of this study were
70 primary care providers of the PWD as registered clients of SBKI. Findings
revealed that food preparation, good grooming, and tutorial were the common
tasks performed by care providers. Their competency in performing tasks was
slated at 3.47, or the highest level. The assistive devices that care providers
use are only those common and can be acquired from other agencies in charity.
Further, care providers strongly agree on community awareness towards their
PWD children. An intervention plan was proposed to sustain the caregivers’
support for the PWD.
