Discipline: Education

Abstract:

The study sought to determine the teaching experience of teachers amidst the pandemic at Cabaluay National High School as a basis for enhancing learning resource management. Specifically, it answered the following questions: What is the general profile of the respondents in terms of the following: age, sex, and length of service? What is the level of awareness of the respondents on COVID-19? What is the level of readiness of the respondents in modular learning education through ICT? What is the respondents’ level of preparedness in modular learning education? What are the challenges faced by the respondents in modular learning education during COVID-19? Is there a significant difference between awareness, readiness, and preparedness in terms of their profile? The study used a descriptive-quantitative method to gather data on the teaching experience of the respondents and provide a basis for enhancing the learning management system. The results of the study showed that there were more female respondents than male respondents who participated in the study. The majority of the respondents were in the age group of 31 years old or older, and the majority of the respondents had 6 to 10 years of service. The participating teachers, who were very much aware of COVID-19, had a good understanding of the pandemic and its impact on education. They were also found to be much ready and much prepared for modular instruction education during the pandemic, although they encountered obstacles due to insufficient facilities, equipment, and capacity building. The challenges faced by the respondents in modular learning education during COVID-19 indicate that most of the respondents agreed that the pandemic would prevail over the new normal situation in the community. The study found no significant relationship between teachers' demographic profiles and their awareness, readiness, and preparedness for COVID-19. Based on the findings, the study recommended several interventions to improve the distance learning program, including the creation of a learning resource management system for distance learning, providing teachers with 21st-century capability building and ICT integration, monitoring facilities and equipment for instructional learning materials, simplifying the curriculum, and ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the distance learningprogram. The study provides valuable insights into the challenges faced by teachers during the pandemic and offers recommendations for improving the delivery of education in challenging circumstances. The findings of this study may be useful to policymakers, school administrators, and teachers in improving the education delivery system and enhancing the distance learning program.
