GradConnect: An Agile Approach for a Web-Based Graduate Tracer and Information System with Heuristic Evaluation

Roselyn A. Maaño | David Eric S. Oreta | Susana C. De Castro

Discipline: information systems

Abstract:

The educational provider that contributes to the development of high-quality graduates. HEIs must track the involvement of graduates relevant to their fields to collect graduation data. The tracer studies give essential information on the relationship between higher education and professional practice, measuring the relevance of higher education, educating stakeholders, and serving as a prerequisite for higher education accreditation. The study aims to develop a web-based system that will be used to gather and archive the graduates’ information. The availability of appropriate resources, such as information systems, survey teams, publications, and the incentives offered to respondents all contribute to a viable tracer research system. The prototype created followed the Agile-Kanban approach, including analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation. Based on the evaluation’s outcome, the related results classify each point as Good or Excellent. Using heuristic concepts, this evaluation matrix enumerates the system’s advantages and room for development. While the “Excellent” scores show regions that excel in usability and user experience, the “Good” results emphasize sections that effectively satisfy the standard standards and perform. Examining the system’s adherence to heuristic principles and its usability and effectiveness is crucial. The evaluation includes the development team, user representatives, and UX/UI designers. User testing and professional assessments were used to identify the system’s strengths and potential development areas.
