Abstract:

The lot of Ilokano women writers is not different from that of women writers in Asia and western countries.

Marian Arkin and Barbara Shollar, editors of Longman Anthology of World Literature by Women (1875-1975) included in their book the literary histories of women writers from twenty-three countries. These literary histories show that many women writers are unknown because they have been discriminated against or even excluded in literary canons and anthologies prepared by men.
