“Eh di, ikaw na Magaling!”: Ang Pag-aaral ng Smart Shaming sa Diskursong Pangsilid-aralan

Abstract:
Ang pananaliksik na ito ay naglalayong ipakita at ilarawan ang konteksto ng mga salitang “smart shaming” at ang epekto nito sa diskurso ng komunikasyon sa loob ng silid-aralan. Ang mga kalahok sa pag-aaral na ito ay mga mag-aaral mula sa senior high school ng isang pribado at pampublikong paaralan sa Lungsod ng Parañaque. Ginamit bilang teoretikal na batayan ng pag-aaral ang Speech Codes Theory ni Gery Philippsen (1997), na nagpapaliwanag na ang mga salita ay maaaring makaapekto sa komunikasyon batay sa mga salik na umiiral, at maaaring magdulot ng positibo o negatibong epekto. Kwalitatibong lapit sa pananaliksik ang ginamit upang matugunan ang pangunahing problema at layunin nito. Isinagawa ng mananaliksik ang pakikipanayam at Focused Group Discussion (FGD) upang magkaroon ng mas malalim na pagsusuri sa mga terminong nauugnay sa “smart shaming” at kung paano ito nagaganap. Ipinakita sa resulta na ang konteksto ng “smart shaming” ay may kinalaman sa paggamit ng wikang Ingles, kapag nagkakamali ng sagot ang kaklase at pagpigil sa pagpapahayag ng opinyon. Ang mga dahilan kung bakit ginagamit o sinasabi ang mga salitang ito ay may kaugnayan sa kausap at sa paksa; bilang bahagi ng ekspresyon sa mga isyung may kaugnayan sa katalinuhan. Ang datos ng pag-aaral ay nagpapakita na ang mga salitang may kaugnayan sa “smart shaming” ay may parehong positibo at negatibong epekto sa gumagamit (nagsasalita) at sa pinagagamitan (biktima) nito. Sa negatibong aspekto, madalas itong nakakasakit sa damdamin ng taong pinapahiya. Gayunpaman, sa positibong aspekto, maaaring maging motibasyon ito upang mapabuti ang pagkatao ng taong pinapahiya. Bukod dito, natutugunan din ng mga salitang ito ang mga pagkakamali na maaaring magamit upang mapabuti pa ng isang tao ang kanyang ginagawa at maging mas mahusay.
