Discipline: Education

Abstract:

This study investigates the impact of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on the educational experiences of college students at San Pablo Colleges during the academic year 2023-2024, emphasizing awareness, engagement, and perceptions. Using a descriptive research design and stratified random sampling, data were collected from 238 students. Mean and standard deviation were used as the statistical tool in interpreting and analyzing the collected data. Results reveal strong consensus regarding the importance of SDGs in education, with students recognizing their relevance to a great extent (M = 3.55, SD = 0.53). Students also report a positive perception of SDG integration into their curriculum and activities (M = 3.53, SD = 0.53) and feel empowered to contribute to SDGs within their communities (M = 3.47, SD = 0.54). However, challenges such as limited resources and inadequate curriculum focus are encountered to a moderate extent (M = 2.72, SD = 0.87). Despite a solid understanding and favorable attitude towards SDGs, these barriers inhibit full engagement. The study concludes with a call to action for educational institutions to prioritize SDG integration by utilizing the developed SDG instructional framework and equipping educators with the requisite training and resources, thereby fostering a more sustainable and equitable future.
