Career Guidance Program Implementation inIndigenous People Elementary Schools: TheChronicles of Guidance Coordinators

Abstract:

ABSTRACT The study aimed to understand the experiences of guidance coordinators in implementing career guidance programs in IP elementary schools. Fourteen guidance coordinators from the Municipality of Talaingod Davao del Norte were selected using purposive sampling and participated in in-depth interviews. Challenges faced by participants included: Financial barriers limiting access to career guidance, Involvement of parents, tribal leaders, and community members, Resource constraints in supporting students' career development, Language barriers affecting communication. Essential coping strategies identified: Facilitating collaborative partnerships, empowering students through self-awareness and encouragement, Motivating career aspirations through cultural integration and comprehensive support. Upon reflecting on their entire experience, they arrived at the following insights: Importance of education in achieving career success, Empowering of Indigenous learners through career guidance programs, Cultivating of leadership skills through career development. The study's results were regarded as significant by participants, teachers, students, and researchers.
