Abstract:

This study explores the correlation between the effects of COVID-19 and tourist travel behavior, preferences, and perceptions. The researchers employed an adapted and modified survey instrument to gather data from 200 Filipino tourists who traveled to the CALABARZON Region during the pandemic. The study aimed to understand how the pandemic influenced travel-related decisions, including destination choices, safety concerns, and overall travel experiences. The findings revealed a strong direct relationship between travel behavior and travel preferences, suggesting that changes in tourists' choices were significantly linked to their overall travel patterns. Furthermore, the study found a notable correlation between travel perceptions, preferences, and behavior, indicating that tourists’ attitudes toward travel safety, health protocols, and destination appeal influenced their decision-making processes. These results provide valuable insights for the tourism industry, as they highlight the shifts in travel dynamics caused by COVID-19. Understanding these changes can help industry stakeholders, including travel agencies, tourism boards, and policymakers, develop strategies to rebuild confidence in travel, enhance safety measures, and create marketing campaigns that align with evolving tourist expectations. By examining the long-term implications of the pandemic on travel behavior, this study contributes to the ongoing efforts to revitalize the tourism sector. The findings emphasize the need for adaptive policies and innovative approaches to address tourists' concerns and preferences, ensuring the industry's sustainable recovery in the post-pandemic era.
