Strategic Management Skills of Public School Heads, Competence Among Public School Teachers, and School Academic Readiness in Cluster 4 Division of Calamba City

Abstract:

The primary goal of this study was to determine the correlation between the strategic managerial skills of school heads, teacher competence, and the academic readiness of public schools. It was conducted in the Cluster 4 District, Division of Calamba City composed of seven elementary schools. Seven school heads and one hundred forty teachers were part of this study. Furthermore, the study employed a quantitative research design that utilized the descriptive correlational approach. Stratified random sampling was implemented. The study adopted a questionnaire from Melo's (2021) research to evaluate the strategic management skills of the school heads. Moreover, the study utilized a standardized monitoring tool from the DepEd to assess the level of competence of teachers and level of academic readiness. Furthermore, the data collected were handed accordingly and subjected to different statistical treatments using frequency count, simple mean, percentage, T-Test, and Pearson Product Moment-Correlation Coefficient (Pearson r). The results revealed that: School heads of Cluster 4 highly manifested their strategic management skills. The level of teaching competence of teachers in the Cluster 4 District was highly observable. Moreover, the level of academic readiness of the public schools was highly observed. Furthermore, based on the result there were significant correlations between the strategical management skills and the teaching competence in the given significant indicators. And there were significant correlations between the strategic management skills of school heads towards the academic readiness of public schools. In line with the findings, recommendations were given to school heads, teachers, and schools for better improvement. The researcher proposed a school program entitled, “Project ASBSS: Attain Strong Bond for School Success is a strategic intervention on fostering healthy relationships between school heads, teachers, and schools for the success of the school goals and objectives.
