Abstract:
In vocational education research, teachers play a crucial role in determining the success or failure of education. This study explored the complex relationships between teacher staffing, resource investment, and professional development opportunities in Tinjin Vocational Colleges in China. Based on an in-depth understanding of the intricate relationships between these variables, the study focused on demographic factors that may contribute to a digital divide, such as gender, age, length of service, and school type. Using a descriptive research method, this study first utilized sample data to explore the foundational connections between the three variables and proposed a comprehensive development plan for vocational college teachers. The results showed no significant differences in demographic factors such as gender, age, or length of service, but there were significant differences based on school type. When classified by school type, the variables showed distinct differences. In addition, the study revealed that while the overall trends in teacher staffing, resource investment, and professional development opportunities were positive, resource investment was rated as satisfactory but with a lower satisfaction level, indicating a need for improvement. A key focus of the study was how to balance the relationship between teacher staffing and resource investment. The research found a positive correlation between the two, meaning that better teacher staffing led to better resource investment. However, schools need to consider financial costs. Moreover, there was a significant positive correlation between teacher staffing and professional development opportunities, indicating that improvements in teacher staffing, such as the number of teachers, qualifications, and stability, resulted in enhanced professional development opportunities. Lastly, the study found a significant positive correlation between resource investment and professional development opportunities. Based on these findings, the study offered several recommendations for the development of vocational teachers, calling for collaborative efforts from educational institutions, society, and the government to build a comprehensive system for developing vocational teachers. These insights provided valuable guidance for improving the development of vocational teachers and implementing effective teacher development programs in vocational colleges.
