Joshua V. Ortega | Serena Corbeta- Gomez

Discipline: human resource management

Abstract:

This study examines the work commitment of contractual employees working in a specific local government unit. Given the significant impact of public personnel administration on the productivity of governmental institutions, understanding the factors driving employee commitment and satisfaction is paramount for an organization’s success. This study examined the work commitment of contractual employees using the correlational descriptive method. The study focuses on identifying key components of work commitment, such as opportunities for professional growth, corporate culture, job satisfaction, and employees' levels of satisfaction. Emotional attachment, loyalty, and the perceived costs of leaving were highly correlated with affective, normative, and continuance commitment. The findings of this study showed that there is a positive commitment among the contractual employees, but they still have reservations since their job does not provide security of tenure.
