Abstract:

The COVID-19 pandemic has catalyzed a profound shift in the global workforce, prompting organizations and employees in the Philippines to adapt to the "new normal." This study investigates the impact of the pandemic on employees' performance and their response to the evolving work environment. A sample of 300 respondents employed in various industries within the National Capital Region (NCR) participated in an online survey. The research employs a Correlational methodology and uses a 42-item questionnaire to assess factors such as feelings about COVID-19, job satisfaction, work motivation, and work-family interference. The study reveals a complex interplay of factors influencing employee performance during the pandemic. Respondents reported a range of emotional responses to COVID-19, affecting their productivity. The research also highlights the importance of work-life balance and the role of employers in maintaining employee motivation and well-being. Findings indicate that the pandemic did not significantly impact overall employee performance. The ability to adapt to new working conditions, maintain job satisfaction, and enhance work motivation contributed to sustaining productivity. However, challenges related to work-family interference and negative feelings about the pandemic have had detrimental effects on job performance. This study sheds light on the dynamic relationship between the COVID-19 pandemic and employee performance, emphasizing the need for businesses to foster a supportive work environment and attend to the well-being of their workforce.
