Effects Of Bullying Among The Junior High School Students And The Extent Of Actions Taken By The School Administration And Teachers: Basis For An Intervention Program

Abstract:
This study attempted to determine the effects of bullying among junior high school students and the extent of actions taken by the school administrators and teachers. A researcher-made questionnaire was used to gather the data to ensure that the questions included can be applied to the Philippine setting. The respondents of the study were 2,028 junior high school students who were randomly selected. The study revealed that all types of bullying were experienced by junior high school students and verbal bullying has the highest frequency. The findings indicated that despite R.A 10627 known as the “Anti-Bullying Law, still many students suffer emotionally and psychologically brought about by bullying. The study recommended teachers to undergo training in handling bullying incidents as the intervention program and classroom rules and regulations before the start of the school year. Moreover, school administrators strictly practice RA 10627, DepEd Order No. 40, and R.A. 7610. In addition, school administrators should strengthen the sanctions
