Challenges Experienced By Grade 11 Students In Filipino Research

Abstract:

Writing a research paper is an essential skill in enhancing problem solving and critical thinking skills of a learner. However, learners might face various problems which are inevitable in the process of writing a research paper. This paper is focused on identifying the challenges experienced by Grade 11 students in Filipino research and the possible solutions that will help them to write a research paper successfully. Using random sampling technique, the researchers selected 248 students from Grade 11 who completed the research subject of Pagbasa at Pagsusuri ng Iba't- Ibang Teksto Tungo sa Pananaliksik. The following challenges in writing a research paper experienced by the students are selecting a topic, deciding on a methodology, finding study participants, getting institutions to participate, making sense of the collected data and understanding and following research ethics. The study revealed that students experienced all the challenges mentioned above. To address the abovementioned challenges, the researchers recommended research based instructional strategies and proposed an action plan that will address the challenges experienced by Grade 11 students in the process of writing a research paper in Filipino.
