Discipline: Education

Abstract:

Filipino teachers suffer debt from the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) loan schemes which is compounding annually. Financial literacy is crucial to teachers to equip them with the knowledge needed to handle their money sensibly. Thus, this descriptive-correlational study was conducted to determine the level of financial literacy and teaching performance of 115 teachers in Palimbang, District I, Sultan Kudarat. This study utilized mean and Pearson r correlation as a means of data analysis. After a thorough examination, significant findings showed that the level of financial literacy of the respondents was moderate. On the other hand, the level of teaching performance of teachers based on RPMS rating was very satisfactory in SY 2020-2021 and SY 2021-2022. Finally, there was no significant relationship between the level of financial literacy and teaching performance of teachers in SY 2020-2021 and revealed no significance between the variables in SY 2021-2022. Therefore, the financial literacy of public-school teachers in Palimbang District 1, Sultan Kudarat did not affect their teaching performance. It is recommended that the teachers may prepare their individual personal financial vision to guide them on their spending, and allocation of their monthly net take home pay to help them see the priority expenditures, and expenses for their needs as well as for their wants.
