Abstract:

This study aimed to determine the Effects of Peer Pressure on the Habit-Forming Behavior of selected Senior High School Student in a Private School in Gumaca, Quezon S.Y 2023-2024. The study involved 80 selected students through proportionate random sampling in Eastern Quezon College. The findings show that most of the respondents according to age are 18-19 years old with (53 %), while 20-21 is the least respondents with (1 %) which describes that most student-respondents of Eastern Quezon College are 18-19 years old. Meanwhile, most of the respondents according to sex are female with (55 %) and (45 %) are male which describes that most student-respondents of Eastern Quezon College are female. According to grade level were (40 %) are grade 11 and (60 %) are grade 12 which describes that most pupils of Eastern Quezon College is grade 12. The findings also show that most of the student-respondents according to strand are HUMMSS with (44 %), while ABM got the least with the percentage of (25 %) which describes that most of the student-respondents are HUMMSS. The study shows that Drinking Alcohol got the highest average mean of 3.13 while Skipping Classes has the lowest average mean of 2.99. Drinking Alcohol gained a highest mean of 3.13. Thus, it indicates that it is one of the effects of peer pressure on the students’ habit-forming behavior as it was their way of dealing with their peers. This was to conclude that students were most likely to drink alcohol to deal with peer pressure. It also reveals that there is no significant difference on the effects of peer pressure on the habit-forming behavior when respondents are grouped according to age and grade level while there is a significant difference on the effects of peer pressure on the habit-forming behavior when respondents are grouped according to sex or strand.
