Cultural and Contextual Sensitivities and Coaching Qualities of Coaches in the Second District of Iloilo

Abstract:

This survey-correlational research study aimed to determine the cultural and contextual sensitivities and coaching qualities of coaches in the second district of Iloilo. The participants in this study were one hundred four-teen (114) out of one hundred sixty (160) athletes selected using stratified random sampling who came from eight (8) Municipality of the Second District of Iloilo. Quantitative data were gathered using a validated 10-item researcher-made Cultural Sensitivities Questionnaire, 10-item researcher-made Contextual Sensitivities Questionnaire, and 10-item researchermade Coaching Qualities Questionnaire. The independent variables covered in this study were Cultural and Contextual Sensitivities while Coaching Qualities was the dependent variable. The statistical tools that were used to analyze and interpret the gathered data were the frequency and percentages, mean, and standard deviation for descriptive analysis, while ANOVA and Pearson r were employed as inferential statistics. Both inferential tests were set at a 0.05 alpha level of significance. Results revealed that as an entire group, the Cultural Sensitivities was “high”. Likewise, the level of Contextual Sensitivities was rated “very high”. Generally, the level of Coaching Qualities of Coaches was “very high”. There was a significant difference in the Coaching Qualities of Coaches among the levels of Cultural and Contextual Sensitivities. Moreover, the results revealed that there was a significant difference in coaching qualities among the levels of cultural sensitivities of coaches. The findings further revealed that there was a significant relationship in coaching qualities among the levels of contextual sensitivities of coaches. In addition, there was a significant relationship among cultural and contextual sensitivities and coaching qualities.
