Abstract:

As part of the global commitment to attain a low carbon economy, a novel reactor system was designed and developed. This reactor produces five metric tonnes (5 MT) of biodiesel per week, or approximately 240 MT (240,000 kg) per year. Using the modified alkali-catalyzed transesterification technique, the theoretical molar requirements of the raw materials were optimized generating a high conversion rate. Process parameters were analyzed using the PNS/ASTM methods in order to determine the over-all quality of biodiesel and the efficiency of the novel reactor. The biodiesel product was tested on the different transport media in Salikneta Farm, San Jose Del Monte Bulacan.
