Ethical Practices Of Physical Education Teachers In The Training Of Sports Trainees

Han Yanlong

Discipline: Education

Abstract:

ABSTRACT This quantitative research examines the ethical practices of Physical Education (PE) teachers in the training of sports trainees, focusing on their adherence to professional standards, fairness, and commitment to fostering holistic development among students. The study employed a descriptive research design and surveyed PE teachers and sports trainees across various educational institutions. Using a structured questionnaire, the research assessed the teachers’ ethical decision-making, integrity, and the balance between performance-driven objectives and student welfare. Results revealed a high level of ethical awareness and practice among PE teachers, particularly in areas related to promoting inclusivity, ensuring equal opportunities, and safeguarding the physical and emotional well-being of trainees. However, challenges were identified in managing conflicts of interest, addressing biases, and navigating pressures from stakeholders to prioritize winning over ethical considerations. Statistical analysis demonstrated significant relationships between the ethical practices of PE teachers and variables such as years of experience, training, and institutional policies. Findings underscore the critical role of ongoing professional development and institutional support in upholding ethical standards. This study highlights the importance of integrating ethics education into teacher training programs and calls for clear guidelines to help PE teachers navigate complex ethical dilemmas in sports training. By fostering ethical practices, educators can create a supportive and principled environment that nurtures both the athletic potential and moral character of sports trainees.
