Abstract:

Anchored on one of the functions of Higher Education Institutions which is community service, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) established linkages with a community, specifically, Barangay Masilipit, San Miguel, Bulacan. Employing Participatory Action Research, this study was conducted to determine the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) of the community. Further, the study looked into the barangay’s demographic profile, socio-economic profile, health and social services, socio-cultural aspect, community organization, and community problems and perception. The results became the bases of Arellano University College of Arts and Sciences in the preparation of a relevant community development program to sustain the stakeholders’ participation and empowerment. An action plan was prepared for the school year 2009-2010 for the adopted community.
