Enhancing Competitive Exam Collections through Technology and Social Media: Perspectives from College Librarians of Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Maharashtra

Abstract:

This study explores the initiatives, practices, and perceptions of college librarians affiliated with the Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Maharashtra, in enhancing competitive exam collections. The descriptive survey design is used. The research data were collected from 89 college librarians through a structured questionnaire. The response rate of survey is 74.16%. The questionnaire was covering areas such as awareness, technology adoption, social media use, best practices, challenges, and overall perceptions. Findings of the research study indicated that college librarians actively engage in collection development by seeking student feedback, collaborating with faculty, and preparing resource guides. Modern technology including AI based tools, library management software, and data analytics, is widely adopted to improve resource accessibility. While social media platforms are support communication and updates, though student participation remains moderate. Best practices included inter-library collaboration, workshops, and structured feedback systems. Key challenges involve budget and time constraints, limited training, and low student digital literacy. Largely, librarians exhibit positive attitudes toward integrating technology and social media, highlighting their potential to strengthen library services and support student success in competitive examinations. The study offers practical guidance for librarians and institutions, and identifies future research opportunities in AI and technology driven collection development.
