Discipline: Psychology and Health

Abstract:

The study aimed to explore the psychological well-being, anxiety levels, burnout, and coping styles of anesthesiology nurses in China. It examined demographic profiles, including sex, age, marital status, salary, hospital type, and personality traits, and assessed psychological distress, anxiety, burnout, and coping strategies. Utilizing a quantitative correlational approach, the study involved 379 public and private anesthesiology nurses and employed various standardized questionnaires. It also tested relationships among these variables and proposed a psychological intervention plan based on the findings. Results show that respondents have openness personality traits, average levels of psychological distress, anxiety, burnout and coping styles. Analysis shows that marital status may affect mental health outcomes, while other demographics do not significantly influence personality traits or levels of anxiety, burnout, and coping strategies. The study also finds weak, non-significant correlations among the variables, suggesting they operate independently. The study indicated a slight female majority, older age distribution, and varied marital status impacting work-life balance and job satisfaction among anesthesiology nurses in China. They show moderate sociability, high empathy, and significant psychological distress, social anxiety, and burnout. Recommendations include wellness programs, stress management workshops, and policy advocacy for mental health resources.
