Abstract:
The study examines the correlation among
core self-evaluation, parenting styles and anti-social
behaviours among senior secondary school students in
Enugu City during the 2023-2024 academic year. Data
from 123 respondents was collected and analyzed using
descriptive statistics, correlation matrix, and
regression analysis. Results showed that indulgent
parenting was the most preferred, while authoritative
parenting was the least preferred. Significant
differences were found in sex, education, core training,
perceived parenting styles, and anti-social behaviours.
Correlation analysis showed a positive relationship
between core self-evaluation and anti-social behavior,
and both parenting styles and self-concept were crucial
predictors of anti-social behavior. Recommendations
for interventions include reducing anti-social behavior
and promoting positive adolescent development,
emphasizing the importance of balanced parenting and
fostering a positive self-concept among adolescents.
