Work-Life Integration and Individual Work Performance of Teaching Personnel in One Higher Education Institution

George Phaul C. Aquino | Niño Philip L. Perculeza

Discipline: human resource management

Abstract:

This study explores the complex connection between work-life integration and the individual work performance of teaching personnel at a specific higher education institution. It acknowledges that the wellbeing of human resources is a key foundation for the institution’s success. This research also examines how the harmonization of personal and professional lives impacts key aspects of educators’ performance, including productivity, stress levels, and their capacity to innovate in their tasks. Furthermore, this study thoroughly analyzes the existing human resource policies of the higher education institution and its time management practices addressed to the welfare of the teaching staff, to identify potential areas for improvement. The methodology in this study likely involves quantitative analysis to test the significant relationship between the variables through a survey questionnaire that is answered by 206 teaching personnel in a certain higher education institution, and the statistical tools utilized to analyze the data gathered include computing the weighted mean, comparison of means, and Pearson Correlation Coefficient (r). By gaining a deeper understanding of the unique challenges and trials faced by the educators of the higher education institution in balancing their work and personal lives, this study aims to give recommendations based on the evidence that the institution can integrate and implement to leverage its human resource policies and cultivate a more conducive and supportive work environment for its faculty members. The implications extend to other higher education institutions by providing a guide for optimizing their policies and enhancing the faculty's well-being, which also benefits the discipline and a much broader community. Ultimately, this research seeks to contribute to creating a workplace where teaching personnel can not only be productive but also engaged, healthy, happy, and thriving.
