Assessment on the Challenges and Coping Mechanism of a Licensed Customs Broker in Zamboanga City in the Performance of their Job

Abstract:

The study aimed to determine the challenges faced by Licensed Customs Brokers in the field in terms of knowledge and skills, communication, time management, and teamwork, as well as their coping strategies or mechanisms. This study employed a descriptive quantitative research design and collected data from Licensed Customs Brokers in Zamboanga City. The results of the data gathered indicated that the indicators related to challenges namely knowledge and skills, communication, time management, and teamwork were not considered significant challenges for Licensed Customs Brokers in the performance of their jobs. On the other hand, the results on coping strategies or mechanisms showed a high level of agreement, indicating that these strategies effectively address workplace challenges. These coping mechanisms include attending seminars, workshops, and conferences, demonstrating flexibility, following protocols, communicating in English or Tagalog for better understanding, respecting the dialects of others, working collaboratively in groups, and listening to and providing suggestions.
