This study aimed to describe the influences of watching the tele series “Maria Clara at Ibarra” on the literary comprehension of the students. An ethical technology was used which followed the process of thematic analysis to treat the responses of ten students from Grades 9 and 10 selected through purposive convenience sampling having an interview as an instrument. It resulted in motivational reasons why students watched the tele series such as it serves as entertainment, a way to overcome academic needs and curiosity, peer pressure, influence of social media, and historical importance. The relationship between the viewer and the series, cultivation of skills, strengthening of ties, and values formation are the causes why students kept on watching. In addition, it is influential because of lessons on patriotism, language development, and understanding of literary elements. Among the characteristics that helped to understand the literature are creativity, characterization, and reflection of culture and history. On one hand, suggestions were given like teachers may apply ICT-based and interactive activities, use differentiated instruction, and maintain traditional teaching methods. It is recommended to use the pedagogical suggestions, have more assessment of viewing skills, and conduct a study on the cultural aspect of literature.
