Abstract:

PolycysticOvarySyndrome(PCOS)ismorethanjustamedicaldiagnosis-it'sarealitythatmanywomenlivewith everyday.Itaffectsnotonlytheirreproductivehealthbutalsotheiroverallwell-being,fromhormonalimbalances to emotional and physical challenges. This study examines the relationship between dietary habits, lifestyle and PCOSamong70womenaged20to39inManila,Philippines.Datafromthesurveyrevealedthatmostrespondents at 48.6% were aged 20 to 25, with many residing in Pandacan and Quiapo.Themajority(92.8%)hadatleasta collegeeducation,mostweresingle75.7%,andemployed50%.Lifestylehabitsshowedthat60%didnotengagein regularphysicalactivity,78.6%consumedalcohol,andmanyreportedunhealthyeatinghabits,suchasconsuming junkfoodat52.9%andsweetenedtea/coffeeat35.8%.While21.7%ofrespondentsregularlyconsumedfruitsand vegetables,manychoselessnutritiousoptions,withvariabilityinportionsizesandsnackingfrequency.Thestudy foundasignificantassociationbetweendietaryhabitsandPCOS,suggestingthatdietarypatternsmayberelatedto PCOSriskandmanagementamongwomeninManila.Thesefindingshighlighttheimportanceoffurtherresearch and targeted dietary interventions to better understand and support women affected by PCOS.
