Dental Problems and Treatments among Visiting Patients During Covid-19 Pandemic

Abstract:
This study determined the common dental problems among visiting patients during Covid-19 pandemic. More specifically, this presented the profile of the visiting patients in terms of age, sex, economic status, and type of consultation during lockdown. It also determined the reasons for dental consultation experienced by the patient as well as the effectiveness of dental treatment during Covid-19 pandemic. It also tested the significant differences between the demographic profile of the visiting patients and the reasons for dental consultation they experienced. The researchers used the quantitative research design to determine the dental problems and treatments among visiting patients during COVID-19 pandemic, and accumulated data through survey questionnaires. Using a purposive sampling method, the questionnaires were distributed among 80 respondents randomly selected from four different locales in Batangas. The results showed that the majority of the participants were females of the age group 19-25 years. The findings showed that the most common dental problems among visiting patients is Decayed tooth/ toothache and Tooth Restoration, and the most effective dental treatment during Covid 19 Pandemic is to observe proper distancing and health protocols in the clinic. Differences of responses between reasons for dental consultation showed significance in age and sex but as to economic status and type of consultation during lockdown, no significant difference was determined. Then, the difference responses between the effectiveness of dental treatment during COVID-19 when grouped according to demographic profile. It was reported that there was no significant difference on the effectiveness of dental treatment during COVID-19, it means that the responses do not vary significantly.
