Abstract:

This study assessed students' levels of awareness of the perceived effects of drug addiction and understanding of reproductive health among Junior High School students in the Mabini District. Employing a descriptive quantitative research design, the study involved 347 respondents, selected through stratified random sampling from a pool of 2592 students across four schools, ensuring a representative sample of the district's student population. The research instruments, validated by experts and tested in a pilot study, facilitated the collection of data on students' awareness and understanding of drug addiction and reproductive health. Statistical treatments included frequency and means utilized to analyze the responses and inferential statistics such as t-tests and ANOVA employed to assess differences and relationships within the data. The results indicate a general awareness among students about the social and physical consequences of drug addiction, such as loss of employment and organ damage. However, gaps were evident in understanding the medical and psychological impacts, highlighting the need for more comprehensive educational efforts. Demographic analysis revealed no significant differences in awareness and understanding across genders and age groups, suggesting uniform reach of educational content.. In response to these findings, the study proposes the "Bright Futures: Navigating Health and Choices" program, aimed at broadening students' knowledge and enhancing their personal and social skills.
