Abstract:

Saludan is the official festival of the Municipality of Tigbauan, Iloilo, celebrated annually on March 18. The said festival was organized to commemorate the heroism and bravery of Tigbaueños and Ilonggo fighters for freedom who were instrumental to the historical liberation of Panay. This descriptive-correlational study investigated the practices, relevance, and involvement of the Saludan Festival in the Municipality of Tigbauan, Iloilo, as assessed by the local tourism stakeholders. Two hundred fifty (250) respondents participated in the study using quota sampling. Frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation were used in the descriptive analyses. At the same time, the Mann-Whitney U Test, Kruskal-Wallis Test, Test for Multiple Comparisons, and Spearman's Rho were employed as inferential statistical tools, with the significance level set at .05 (alpha). Results reveal that the assessment of the level of practices, extent of relevance, and degree of involvement was very highly practiced, very highly relevant, and very highly involved, respectively. Moreover, significant differences in the extent of relevance were observed when respondents were classified by age, sex, and stakeholder type, and significant differences in the degree of involvement were observed when respondents were grouped by marital status and stakeholder type. Ultimately, significant correlations were found among the local tourism stakeholders of the Saludan Festival between practices and relevance, involvement and relevance, and practices and involvement.
