Assessment of Solid Waste Management Program in the Poblacion Area of Panabo City

Abstract:

This study assesses the implementation of the solid waste management program in the poblacion area of Panabo City, Davao del Norte. Four hundred residents were interviewed in the eleven (11) urban barangays of Panabo City. Using Pearson Correlation Coefficient, ANOVA, Frequency, Percentage and Mean, findings show that the overall awareness and public participation on the solid waste management project was high. The level of participation and awareness on the solid was management program is correlated with the level of actual implementation. The study recommends that the city government fully and strictly implement the city ordinance on solid waste management, increase the establishment and operation of the material recovery facility and encourage a higher community consciousness.
