Abstract:

The students of the barrio high school take both the college preparatory and the vocational phases of the 2-2 plan. They have two periods of vocational training every day. In addition to these, they work at home to raise pigs, poultry or vegetables, to sell bread or shine shoes on weekends and before and after school hours. They may be permitted to miss classes in order to earn money to pay for their tuition. Their teachers are willing to give them extra lessons to enable them to catch up on classes they have missed.
