Catholic Education: Present Resources and Challenges of Tomorrow

Vicente R. Jayrne

Discipline: Education

Abstract:

I am pleased to be able to celebrate with you, through this dialogue, the Quadricentennial Celebration of the Archdiocese of Manila. My role in today's dialogue is to share with you a businessman's perceptions of the present resources and the challenges that Catholic Education faces in the coming years. While I have earlier been asked to speak on the entire range of Christian Education (i.e., Catholic, Protestant and other Christian denominations), I feel that my limited competence allows me, if at all, to speak only on Catholic education. However, I am fully aware of the significant contribution the rest of the other Christian denominations have been making to Philippine education and society. The challenges they face, more likely than not, are similar to those faced by Catholic education.
