Abstract:

When a Brothers' former student, Jeremiah J. Harty, alumnus of Christian Brothers' College of Saint Louis, Missouri, U S.A., first pleaded with the Brothers' superiors for the Brothers of the Christian Schools to establish themselves in the new American colony, as early as May 7, 1904, it was - viewed from the perspective of the Mission Statement of De La Salle University in 1982 - for an avowedly anti-ecumenical reason.
