Abstract:

Exhaustive research on the historical origins of Philippine towns has not, as yet, been done. Due to the diversity of historical circumstances in the different regions of the country. at different historical periods, a comprehensive analysis of the elements that have shaped the beginnings, as well as the nature and character, of Philippine towns would require both the continuing labor of generations and many partial historical studies delineating the distinct peculiarities and social forces involved in the foundation and subsequent development of each region, province, and town in the country.
