A HISTORICAL ACCOUNT OF THE COLLEGE OF SCIENCE

Herminia D. Torres

Discipline: Education

Abstract:

Following the grant of a charter on November 11, 1917, De La Salle College established a regular four-year high school course (formerly, a three-year secondary commercial program) which included the sciences in its curriculum. In addition to a two-year post high school commercial course, a two-year college course leading to the Associate in Arts (AA) degree was likewise offered. This program, which had its first graduates in 1919, was discontinued in 1931 due to lack of personnel. In 1930, the commercial course was converted into a three-year program leading to the Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree. The authorization to confer the degree of Master of Science in Education was likewise granted, but for lack of students the program was never started.
