In the present study of 24 chicken serum samples, the usefulness of the locally produced BAI Reovirus antigen was determined in detecting antibodies against Reovirus in suspected Viral Arthritis (VA) by Agar Gel Precipitation Test (AGPT). Farms A, C and D gave positive AGPT reactions with consequent high Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) readings. Farm B gave negative AGPT reactions with very low ELISA readings. The test antigen gave 100% specificity and sensitivity to AGPT. The results indicate that the BAI Reovirus antigen is an effective screening diagnostic tool for Viral Arthritis cases caused by avian Reovirus.
