Abstract:

This paper recounts the little-known exploits of guerilla outfits, especially those under the command of General Fertig, and other organized units of the USAFFE in the province of Surigao (present-day provinces of Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur) in their resistance against the Japanese forces in World War II, and especially units under Capt. Robert Spielman.
