Abstract:

This study was carried out for two reasons curiosity about the standards being set by the Baliuag University College of Nursing for its students, and to determine whether the Academic achievement of graduates are a good indicator of what their performance in the Nurse Licensure examination will be like. The study focused on two variables: the relationship between the academic performance and the nurse licensure examination (NLE) performance of 148 Baliuag University nursing graduates from 2004-2007. The descriptive-correlational non-experimental research design was utilized to evaluate the samples’ performance both in the academics and in the NLE. Results showed that the correlation between the two variables is highly significant. This means that nurses who performed well in their academic subjects also showed good performance in the nurses’ licensure exam. The passing rate increased from 2004-200, with batch 2007 having the highest passing rate. The study also showed that through the analysis of the result, it can be concluded that the academic performance of the nursing students significantly influenced the outcome of the NLE.
