Discipline: History
This paper identifies the cultural and historical sites and landmarks in the provinces of Sulu and Tawi-Tawi. It discusses the state of these cultural sites and landmarks and how the elements in the environment, both man-made and natural, have affected them. The paper cannot, however, pretend to be exhaustive; there may be more historical and cultural landmarks out there, which are waiting to be located and identified. But it underscores the significance of the identified cultural and historical sites and landmarks in the culture and history of the Tausug and the Sama as natives of these two farflung areas of this country, reflecting the pluralist or diverse nature of the Filipino nation as a whole.
