The modern theory of sets, discovered and made famous by George Cantor ( 1845-1918), is commonly considered one of the greatest creations of the human mind. It contains such bold formation of concepts and methods of proof that its study is indescribably fascinating. Not only has it enriched many branches of mathematics, it has also become one of the connecting links between mathematics and logic. Indeed, one of the distinguishing features of modern mathematics is its frequent and systematic use of concepts of sets in the description of many old and new mathematical ideas.
